Philadelphia Personal Injury Lawyer Jay L. Edelstein was born in 1955 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He attended Washington & Jefferson College, where he received his B.A. in 1976. He went on to Widener University School of Law (formerly Delaware Law School), receiving his J.D. in 1979.

Mr. Edelstein is the firm’s founder and is a successful and well-respected third-generation attorney who focuses his practice of law on the following areas:  Personal injury litigation, sexual abuse, institutional sexual abuse, motor vehicle accidents, school bullying, slip and fall, medical malpractice, wrongful death, and catastrophic injuries.   He was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1979 and the New Jersey Bar in 1991.

With more than 40 years of experience, Mr. Edelstein has successfully represented his clients in settlements and verdicts in the high multi-millions. (many of which are NDA, and the amounts cannot be disclosed) He has been awarded Super Lawyer of Pennsylvania for 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. Only 5% of Attorneys in Pennsylvania receive this distinction. Super Lawyers is reserved for those attorneys who exhibit excellence in practice. In addition, Jay is AV-rated with Martindale-Hubbell, which has the highest peer review rating in legal ability and ethical standards. This AV rating is only given to 5% of attorneys WORLDWIDE. 

He is a member of The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and American Bar Associations. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He is also admitted to practice in The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, The United States District Court of New Jersey, and The United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.  

Mr. Edelstein is a Philadelphia Board of Directors member at Ashley Treatment Center. Jay also serves as Philadelphia counsel for Steps to Recovery, LLC. He is very active in the drug and alcohol community and is always there to lend a helping hand to someone in need.

Jay has been happily married for 34 years with three beautiful children and two lovely grandsons. He enjoys relaxing in the sun and taking long walks with his dog, Sammi. He is a lifelong avid Flyers fan and loves all Philadelphia sports teams. His ultimate wish would be to see the Flyers win the Stanley Cup. He would challenge anyone, any day, to any sports trivia.
